Edna L. Shemesh
An independent writer, translator and book reviewer.She has a BA in English Literature and Theatre Studies(The Hebrew university). She teaches creative writing at the Rehovot branch of the Hebrew University.
She has published three books.Her fourth novel The Sea, will be published 2017. She translated into Hebrew books such as Dreams from My Father by Barack Obama; Burning bright by Tracy Chevalier and The City of Falling Angels by John Berendt.
She won first prize by the radical feminist periodical Noga(2002), First Prize in the International Competition for Short Story from the Mediterranean, sponsored by UNESCO(2002), First Prize in the Iton 77 literary periodical's short story competition(2004), The Israeli Ministry of Culture Fund for The Translation of Hebrew Literature "Am Hasefer" prize (2014,2016). She was shortlisted for the Sapir Prize (The Israeli Booker prize) (2008). She was a writer in residence by the Prima Royal Writers’Residency in Jerusalem.
